Lots of Locks of Love

Yesterday I had an appointment to donate my hair to Locks of Love. This (on the left) is how I have worn my hair for the past year or so.

This (on the right) is what it looked like down (Mandy took a better picture before I got out of the car, but I stupidly erased it).

And this (below) is what it looks like now. Much shorter and Mandy says it makes me look younger. Heather (my stylist) was waiting for me to panic with every snip, but I kept telling her "it's only hair". She says most people start to "freak out" after the first cut. I will have to get used to it (it was weird washing it this morning with so much less hair) and styling will take a little longer. But that's ok, someone is going to have a nice wig and I hope they wear it well.

Knitting next time.
Added at 11:31pm: the scarf is done and is blocking. Hopefully it will be dry tomorrow so that I can gift it.

Well it was almost that short several years ago and I love my short hair. Are we really the same girls that had hair down to our bottoms when we were younger

Congrats on the new cut, and for making such a great choice to donate!

How wonderful you donated to them! They are such a good cause... I donated a few years ago and I was one of the people who freaked out. It took me a good week to not do a double take every time I looked in a mirror.

What a wonderful thing you've done to donate your hair for someone to have as a wig!!

Yay for Locks of Love!

I donated my hair two years ago this month and my stylist was very hesitant, too. I had an 18" braid and it took her about 10 minutes to finally cut it. She was sure I would burst into tears (people had before). I told her the same thing: it's only hair!

Good for you! I did this a couple of years ago and my hair is getting long again and I am itching to get it cut, but I'm not sure if it is quite long enough for LoL so I may have to wait a bit longer.

Karen you have BEAUTiFUL hair! It is in great condition, u did such a good deed. As a hairstylist I have helped many clients donate their hair. It is a good feeling even for us. The new cut looks great. Enjoy it!

oh - i just did the same thing! i hadn't had a cut since the month before my youngest was born - and he is now 25! so 14 inches went to locks for love.

no regrets! now i can't decide if i should let it grow to donate again. but for now i'm loving the freedom of short hair.
