Knitting ADD.... Startitis
Whatever you call it... I have it BAD!! I have started another sock. It's the sock for sockmaniacs ( yes another Yahoo KAL) Fishermen's Socks. It is a lovely pattern (no mindless knitting here) of cables and gansey knitting. I'm using Lorna's Laces Sock in natural on size 1 dpn's. This pattern is kind of messing with my head, because I happen to like symmetry in my socks and the front(zig-zaggy) and back(braided cables) are totally different. Don't get me wrong, I like the pattern and I'm going to finish this pair of socks ( my daughter says I have issues I really need to deal with...just because I want the stripes to match with self-striping yarn and the fronts and backs to match with patterns) it won't make the twitching any worse, really. So if you see a woman wondering the streets with mismatched socks talking to herself... it's me, but I'm alright, I just have issues. And I'm trying to resolve them.
P.S. sorry for the poor quaility of the pictures, it's hard to take a good one of white (ivory) yarn and see the patterns well.

Something to Show
I have started on my Six Sox KAL sock for April/May. I'm using the Opal Flamingo my sister Monica gave me. It is looking very nice. I like the pattern and it was easy to memorize. I'm having a hard time finding my rhythm with it though. But that may just be me and the funk I've been in this week. This yarn does make me happy though, all that pinkness. And I'm not really all that girly either.
I have also made some progress on my Denmark this week. I am on the foot!! This sock is ever so loverly. How can you go wrong with Lorna's? Well, that's it for now. Happy knitting!

Progress Made
I have been working on my Denmark and Meilenweit socks. I ripped and restarted the Denmark on size 3's, I think they will fit better. And the Meilenweit is to the gusset decreases. I love this yarn and the colors are much brighter than in the picture. Have a great Monday, it's back to work for me. BLAH

Denmark's Started
After mailing off the baby socks I came home and started my socks for the KOTR KAL. I love to cable so I think this pattern is great. I'm using Lorna's Laces Sport - Grapevine. This yarn is so soft and wonderful to knit with. And I still need to get my Sixth Sense socks going for another KAL, but I have till the end of May to complete both of these socks. Monica gave me some Meilenweit and Opal yarn a couple of weeks ago and I've started a pair with the Meilenweit and am anxious to make progress on those too. So many socks to make and not enough time. tsk tsk So now it's back to knitting.
They're Done and I'm Done In
The last of the baby socks are done. 5 more pair off the needles bringing my total for the week to 12. I was shooting for 15 but I just can't knit anymore of them. 3 more pair in Lion Brand Stripes and 2 pair in Trekking 103 and 104. I'm off to the post office. And back to knitting adult socks at a normal pace. WHEW!! Have a great weekend

Where I Knit
So, Kat is having this contest to see where we all knit. So here are 5 of the places I have knit (other than my house or LYS):
1. Allergist's office (we have to wait 30 mins. to make sure Mandy doesn't react badly to her shots each week).
2. In the school parking lot (car) waiting for Mandy to come out of the building.
3. At work (esp this last week, we were so slow and the phone hardly rang. I knit 8 pair of baby socks).
4. Regular doctor :waiting room, exam room
5. Again in the car, waiting on a very long and slow train.
I could list more: sister's house, music school(while Mandy is having piano lessons), hotel room and hotel swimming pool at daughter's 16th birthday party thrown by her friends, and the movie theater before the Harry Potter movie (I love to embarass my daughter). That's all I can think of right now.
This is fun... thanks Kat.

Openwork Rib X3
3 more pair of baby socks have come off the needles. I used the same pattern for each of them, the Openwork Rib from the SKS book. It's a pretty pattern with the eyelet on the knit rib, and they all look so different with the particular yarn I used. I used Trekking XXL # 67, Cherry Tree Hill and Lanet Superwash. I'll busy knitting more for another week before I have to mail them in, so keep checking in to see what comes next.
Have a great weekend. Happy Easter!!

They Keep Coming Off the Needles
More baby socks that is. I've knit up 3 more pair this week, so far. They are just too cute. In a week and a half, when I have to send them in, I will return to knitting adult socks. Yah!! These are fun to knit but I sure would like to work on something bigger. The far one is Knit Picks Sock Garden-Morning Glory (slouch sock pattern from Socks, socks, socks), the middle is Lanet Superwash (alternating 2x2 rib SKS book), and the third is I think Blauband(is that right Monica?) plain stockinette. That's it for now, but I'm sure I'll have more before the weekend. Now it's off to bed!

Knitting, Sewing and Cake
We have had a busy weekend. We had the family celebration of my daughter's birthday yesterday. I have been knitting more baby socks and sewing burp cloths for my sister to give as baby gifts. First the baby socks. The first pair is knit in LangJawoll the second with yarn my sister gave me this weekend.
Now for the sewing; I was supposed to make 6 boys and 6 girls, as you can see I fell short of the mark. Now for the cake. Mandy chose this cake for me to make. I waited too late to order a DQ cake so it will have to be next year for that. Well I can't get these pictures to go where I want them to, but you get the idea. Have a great week.

More Baby Socks
I've knit 3 more pair of baby socks this week.
The top left pair is a 2x2 rib, on the right is a funky sock, on the color stripes I purled and the grey I knit (they look like little innertubes) and the bottom sock is just plain stockinette. All knit from Lion Brand Magic Stripes Spring Brights. Have a great weekend!!

Birthday Cake
My daughter's birthday isn't for another week but her friends gave her a party (see earlier entry) and I made this cake for her. I wish I had an ounce of the talent my mom had for cake decorating (and knitting, crocheting, woodworking, baking, cooking;ok everything) but here is her cake. It was chocolate and it was GOOD! that's all that matters. I get to make another one on Saturday (for family) unless I get a DQ ice cream cake for her (with extra crunchies, of course).
That's 2 posts with no knitting in them, I will have to do something about that.
Useless Junk?
Kate has posted a contest to see what is put in the cupboard over the fridge; so here is mine. Now you have to understand that once upon a time (some of)these things were useful to me, but I haven't opened this cabinet in YEARS. And as you can see by the dust on top of the fridge I am a poor housefrau. So it looks like I've got a wooden carrier for some pyrex, a wooden bread basket, a wire bread basket with a Jell-O mold thingy in it and a Wilton cake pan (of some sort). Oh look, that's what happened to my Tupperware popsicle maker thingys. A wicker party thing, another Jell-O mold, and more cake pans. Mickey shaped, heart shaped, egg shaped and Christmas tree shaped. Did I EVER use any of that stuff, I think the bread baskets were wedding gifts. Ah, not as interesting as some. But there you have it, for the first time in about 11 years the cabinet contents have been looked at and closed back up again.

Daughter's Birthday Socks
Mandy's friends gave her a big Sweet 16 birthday party lastnight. They pooled their money and rented a hotel suite ( I chaperoned) and surprised her. They swam (indoor pool) and laughed and had a good time. And since this was their present to her I knew she wouldn't be having anything to open so I gave her her birthday socks.... So now I can post the picture of them ...... Here they are, Opal Uni-Solid bright pink and purple (sorry I don't remember the color #'s). It's just your basic, plain sock. They fit, she loves them and was totally surprised with those as well as her party. So I survived my night with 7 15 & 16 year old girls (Mandy says they love me, I played games with them). And I did get some knitting done(more about that later) while they were in the pool, so it was all good. TTFN
